Mindfulness – the mechanics

Mindfulness – The Chinese character 念 is composed of two parts, the top 今 meaning “now; this” and bottom 心 signifying “heart; mind.”

Mindfulness = “mind is here and now”

Our mind is invaded by 6 senses – sight, sound, touch, taste, smell and mental objects.

If we focus on mental objects (thinking) there is every likelihood that we will exclude other sensations and missed out a lot of events that happened around us. Are we still mindful ?

Often, especially efficient multitaskers, we dart from focusing on one sense objects to others and seem to take everything in. This is a very stressful state.
Are we still mindful ?

Bare awareness has no preference , no judgement and as a result the inner dialogue die by itself very quickly. This state of awareness is alert but as it does not engage all the sensations our memory and conditioning are not triggered to come into play and as a consequence nothing is stored as well.

Vaccine manufacturers routinely rely on scientific fraud

Here’s additional information you need to know about vaccine fraud, originally published in this article on Natural News:

According to two Merck scientists who filed a False Claims Act complaint in 2010 — a complaint which has just now been unsealed — vaccine manufacturer Merck knowingly falsified its mumps vaccine test data, spiked blood samples with animal antibodies, sold a vaccine that actually promoted mumps and measles outbreaks, and ripped off governments and consumers who bought the vaccine thinking it was “95% effective.”

According to Stephen Krahling and Joan Wlochowski, both former Merck virologists, the Merck company engaged in all the following behavior:

• Merck knowingly falsified its mumps vaccine test results to fabricate a “95% efficacy rate.”

• In order to do this, Merck spiked the blood test with animal antibodies in order to artificially inflate the appearance of immune system antibodies. As reported in CourthouseNews.com:

Merck also added animal antibodies to blood samples to achieve more favorable test results, though it knew that the human immune system would never produce such antibodies, and that the antibodies created a laboratory testing scenario that “did not in any way correspond to, correlate with, or represent real life … virus neutralization in vaccinated people,” according to the complaint.

• Merck then used the falsified trial results to swindle the U.S. government out of “hundreds of millions of dollars for a vaccine that does not provide adequate immunization.”

• Merck’s vaccine fraud has actually contributed to the continuation of mumps across America, causing more children to become infected with mumps.

• Merck used its false claims of “95 percent effectiveness” to monopolize the vaccine market and eliminate possible competitors.

• The Merck vaccine fraud has been going on since the late 1990’s, say the Merck virologists.

• Testing of Merck’s vaccine was never done against “real-world” mumps viruses in the wild. Instead, test results were simply falsified to achieve the desired outcome.

• This entire fraud took place “with the knowledge, authority and approval of Merck’s senior management.”

• Merck scientists “witnessed firsthand the improper testing and data falsification in which Merck engaged to artificially inflate the vaccine’s efficacy findings,” according to court documents.

Ego and spiritual Practice

Ego is constantly attempting to

acquire and apply the teachings of

spirituality for its own benefits

                   Chonyam Trungpa

Attachment(desire) and Aversion(hatred)

“Indeed, try as you might, there is no way you will ever be rid of your attachment and hatred as long as you keep believing that they arise because of the external objects or circumstances to which they are connected. The more you attempt to reject external phenomena, the more they will spring back at you. Hence, therefore, the importance of recognizing the empty nature of your thoughts and simply allowing them to dissolve.”

Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

The approach outlined here is very similar to what was taught in Natural Liberation by Gyatrul Rinpoche. Highly recommended.

Thinking, Reality And the Great Divide

There is a recent psychological adage that had been used very effectively to manipulate the masses through the use of communication media such as the internet, radio and tv programmes. “Perception is reality” had been used to great effect by “communication consultant” .

When Buddha started teaching more than 2500 years ago he also explained in great detail how our believes and our belief system are formed. From these believes arose our thoughts, speech and our actions.

All of us will do well if we understood how our minds are being manipulated by the media and perhaps even those who sought to do us harm. The constant refrain “we are not stupid we can think” seemed to be the basis and confidence we have in the conclusions we have formed. And when we can’t think or fit the pieces together we would come up with catchy phrases like “he must think we are stupid to believe what he said” or “well he is a liar” etc. Perhaps the most interesting I have heard was “he is intelligent, you can not out talk him – so don’t talk to him” . We are so afraid that our precious worldview would be destroyed. We reject that which could not fit into our precious belief system, no matter how distorted, warped or untrue. We defend our belief system even if there is no basis for it. We constantly search for support or evidences for our beliefs. Truth be damned . Truth is then sacrificed on the altar of our delusions and mistaken beliefs.

We could think and indeed our entire worldview is formed and shape from thinking. The mind cannot see in “whole” so what it does is to collect little pieces here and there to fit into a storyline that was usually presented to us or was already in our own mindstream. Media professionals in trying to manipulate us would give us pieces of information, whether there is a basis for it or not is less important and then give us a storyline that we could swallow. The more logical and the more authority there is the more believable and acceptable the propaganda is. Are we thinking ? Or are we  GIVEN all the information that we needed to form an informed decision on the compelling conclusion that was also fed to us.

We must always be mindful that there is always a great divide, a disconnect between what we believe and what is really out there. Scientific method recognised this and this was why ALL SCIENTIFIC AND RATIONAL CONCLUSIONS ARE TENTATIVE.

Buddha’s spiritual technique of dropping ALL thinking and just watch is about creating space within our mindstream so that our innate wisdom could arise. Direct perception then become possible.

Karma and our Mouth

While having breakfast this morning there was a shouting match going on just behind me. People were running away. I turned around and saw an indian man shouting at an old chinese man and it would seemed he was about to smash the old man’s face in.

The indian man was accusing the chinese man of maligning him to others and simply adding all kinds of mental projections on what had happened.

I knew that old man as well and had spoken with him just 2 weeks back at a coffeeshop. He was talking to a few people next to my table about karma and how our present life – for better or for worst was a result of past lives bad actions. His mouth just could not stop talking. He then came over to my table and started talking about how fortunate he was. He doesn’t have any pain or aches even though he was already 60+ reaching 70 soon.  I asked him how about bad karma created by one’s mouth ?  He looked at me stunned and then walked away to do his chores. A short while later he came back and then answered my question. He said his words never hurt anyone and further since there is no action so there is no karma.

I went on to give him an example of how our words could literally kill someone and how it could actually cause tremendous amount of harm to others. He disagreed and we left our separate ways.

Buddha reminded us to guard our thoughts, speech and actions as all of them come together to create the causes and environment in which karmic seeds were created. To believe that only physical harm could cause bad karma is gross misunderstanding of what Buddha had taught and those who propagate it is being irresponsible.

Today’s event was a grim reminder of this simple truth as taught by Buddha.
